US Mint to Release 2017 American Liberty Silver Medal

Proof 2017-P 1-ounce .999 fine silver American Liberty 225th Anniversary medal is the first of the five silver medals to be issued in 2017 as U.S. Mint celebrates its 225th anniversary. The coin will go on sale on 14th June and it will cost $59.95. The medals will be struck as per the demand at Philadelphia Mint without any product or household ordering limits. An illustrated booklet talks about the medal's development and production.The medals will feature the same design that’s depicted on the 2017-W American Liberty, 225th Anniversary gold $100 coin, but it won’t have any coin inscriptions.
A Reverse Proof medal will also be available in a four-medal set that also contains medals struck at the San Francisco, West Point, and Denver Mints. The 2017-S medal has a standard Proof finish, the 2017-W medal comes with Enhanced Uncirculated finish, and the 2017-D medal comes with an Uncirculated finish. The set will be offered later in 2017. Mintage limits and pricing has not yet been disclosed.
Raw planchets used for the production of these coins are the same as the ones that were used to make American Eagle 1-ounce silver dollar coins.
